Today I am debuting a new series of posts entitled "Jess's Junkin' Spots". In this series of posts I am going to take you on a tour of my favorite antique and vintage stores around NE Ohio (I am linking up this
post so we don't forget about it). I hope to hit up :
Medina Antique Mall
Brother's Antique Mall
The Depot
The Bomb Shelter
Stagecoach Antiques
Sweet Lorain
Flower Child
Deering Vintage
Plus... any others that I stumble across along my way. I plan on posting my visits once a month.
The first store I want to feature is 8,000 square ft Sweet Lorain, located on the west side of Cleveland.
Beating tough economic times with flair and style becomes easier this spring as the West Side’s Sweet Lorain marks its grand re-opening. New owner Redwin Lewis purchased the store in March and began immediately to invest in dramatic, store-wide reorganization. The venerable 8,000 sq. ft. vintage department store has been revamped and reorganized—all while remaining irrepressibly retro. Expanded departments, new store hours and a faithfulness to the brand’s rich 20-year tradition make Sweet Lorain the destination site for vintage shopping.
Originally known as Suite Lorain, the 7105 Lorain Avenue locale has been a vintage shopping tradition for a generation, serving as a Cleveland landmark and one of the region’s top vintage department stores. Now, with Mr. Lewis’ vision, a second generation is underway.
Sweet Lorain will remain true to its original mission—specializing in 1930s-1970s deco and mid-century modern styling while continuing to assist patrons in locating hard-to-find items through its tailored wish list program. Variety, quality, volume and depth of style distinguish the new Sweet Lorain.
Relaunching as the destination site for affordable, one-stop vintage shopping, the store is merchandised by 15 core vendors, including Lewis, each reflecting unique styles and tastes. With Sweet Lorain’s new floor plan and greater emphasis on display fixtures, patrons will find themselves spending less time locating items they seek, and more time being inspired by items they would not have considered before.
There is sooooo much in this space that I could spend hours every time I go there. If you want anything kitsch or mid-centery modern, this is your place. Not only do they have great knickknacks and housewares, but they have amazing furniture and loads of clothes!
