Saturday, December 31, 2011

Nicole, from Pussycat Vintage, is a girl after my own heart! I too have been obsessing over secretary and bow tie blouses! Make sure you check out her inspiring blog and her well curated Etsy shop with the same name.

Obsessed With. . .

I have started a collection of these bow tie blouses and have every intention of growing it. Wearing one today in fact. I just cannot get enough of them.

Party like it's 1929

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I have been totally into Art Deco style lately and I think it's ornamental and lavish attributes would be perfect for a New Years Eve party. If I were to throw a "Decked out in Art Deco New Year's Eve Party" this is what it would look like.

My Weekly Obsessions: Chalk Lettering

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

The moment I pulled my Holiday 2011 West Elm catalog out of my mailbox and turned the first page I knew they had commissioned professional chalk letterer Dana Tanamachi to help spread their holiday cheer. I have been obsessing over Dana's work ever since I first laid eyes on it this summer. Her work is magnificent in a nonchalant sort of way.  I would love to paint a wall in my house with chalkboard paint and let her go at it!

Take a look see at what it took to create one of the images from the catalog...

Jess's Vintage Spots: Deering Vintage

Sunday, December 18, 2011

Today I want to introduce you to, Deering Vintage, one of my new favorite vintage shops! First, I want to apologize for my crappy iPhone photos, but I dropped in on a whim and I didn't have my camera with me. Sorry. But... hopefully my description will make you want to stop by next time you are in Cleveland, Ohio (which by the way has some fab vintage stores, look here).

I absolutely love everything about this store! They have so much to offer, I could seriously browse for hours. What I love about this place is that it feels more like a fun boutique, rather than a vintage shop. In the middle of the store on both sides there is a ton of sparkly jewelry (my favorite) and a "beauty salon" to the right with lots of compacts, mirrors, purses, etc. In the back they have the clothes, which are perfectly hung and easy to look through. If you are ever in Ohio City, one of Cleveland's best neighborhoods, you need...yes need, to stop by!

My great find of the day...a steal at $28.00!

My Weekly Obsessions: Eva Juliet

Friday, December 16, 2011

I am totally obsessing over Eva Juliet on Etsy...I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of Joanna's work! Make sure to check out her amazing blog and her facebook page. These are some of my favorite pieces...

I am totally going to put this in my kitchen (you know when I re do it)!

Color of the Year...Tangerine Tango

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

This week Pantone announced Tangerine Tango a warm, energetic color as its 2012 color of the year. In their press release, Pantone says:

The 2011 color of the year, PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle, encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

I have already noticed this color in stores this season, have you?

Although, you know, everything old is new again....

So what do you think... is this a color trend worth keeping?
